Dr. Walter P. Unger recently spoke to nearly 1000 dermatologists from throughout the world at the 86th Annual Conference of the Canadian Dermatology Association. Featured as a world leader in the field of hair restoration surgery, Dr. Unger presented “Reality and Hype in Modern Hair Restoration: What you should know when guiding your patients” on June 23, 2011 in Edmonton, AB.
In addition to providing a basic overview of advances in the specialty, Dr. Unger addressed the nuances between the various techniques for harvesting hair follicles (FUE versus strip surgery) as well as the candidacy of both women and young men with pre-existing hair. As the former President of the Canadian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and Director of the Hair Loss Clinic at the University of Toronto, Dr. Unger helped clarify a number of common misconceptions shared by physicians not specializing in the field.
